You can eat right and hit the gym for months and still feel like certain areas just won’t respond. That’s not always a discipline problem. Some muscle groups are hard to reach through exercise alone, no matter how consistent you are. That’s where TightWave comes in.
TightWave, powered by the Fotona StarFormer, is designed to close that gap. It’s part of Beautiful Eyes Aesthetics and Wellness’ non-invasive aesthetic treatments, built to deliver visible results without incisions or recovery time.
What Is TightWave?
TightWave is the body sculpting protocol of the Fotona StarFormer. It uses HITS (High-Intensity Tesla Stimulation) magnetic technology to trigger deep, involuntary muscle contractions. For deep core and lower back strengthening, the same device also offers CoreRestore.
While you lie comfortably on the treatment bed, the applicators are secured over your target muscle group, such as the abdomen, glutes, hamstrings, arms, or back. Larger areas like the abdomen and glutes can be treated with up to four applicators at once. The magnetic pulses make the muscle contract far beyond what voluntary movement can achieve.
Important distinction: TightWave builds and tones muscle. It doesn’t remove fat. If fat reduction is your main goal, that’s a different type of treatment, and your consultation is the right time to decide which one, or which combination, fits your goals.
How TightWave Works
The Technology
Magnetic pulses from the applicators penetrate the skin and clothing to directly reach the muscle layer, causing it to contract automatically and repeatedly. There’s no heat involved and no needles. You remain fully clothed throughout the session. There’s no need to undress or apply gel.
What a Session Feels Like
Most patients feel strong, rhythmic muscle contractions rather than pain, since the magnetic pulses pass through without engaging the skin’s pain receptors. Some describe it as feeling like an intense workout without the physical effort.
It’s common to experience mild muscle soreness for a day or two afterward, similar to how you’d feel after a hard workout at the gym. You’ll lie down comfortably on the treatment bed for the whole session.

Key Benefits of TightWave
Builds real muscle, not just surface tone
TightWave triggers deep, involuntary muscle contractions that go beyond what voluntary exercise can achieve, so results reflect genuine muscle development, not just temporary tightening.
Engages areas that are hard to target with exercise
Some muscle groups are naturally hard to activate through regular workouts. TightWave engages them directly, addressing areas that often plateau despite consistent training.
Zero effort required
No reps, no sets, no time at the gym. The applicators do the muscle work while you simply relax and let the session run. There’s no recovery period needed. Most patients return to their normal day immediately after treatment, with at most mild soreness for a day or two.
Treats multiple areas
TightWave can target the abdomen, glutes, hamstrings, arms, and back, sometimes more than one area in a single session, depending on your treatment plan. It is a non-invasive treatment. Applicators are placed directly over your clothing. There are no injections, and no surgical risks involved.
Complements your existing fitness routine
TightWave works well alongside a workout routine you’re already doing, adding deep muscle engagement to the areas that resist change even with regular training.
What Areas Can Be Treated
TightWave can target multiple muscle groups, including:
- Abdomen
- Glutes
- Hamstrings (back of the thighs)
- Arms
- Back
Multiple areas can sometimes be treated in the same session, depending on the treatment plan your provider builds for you.

*A consultation will confirm whether TightWave is the right fit for your health history and goals.
TightWave vs. Fat Reduction Treatments
It’s worth being clear about this upfront: TightWave builds muscle. It doesn’t melt fat. If you’re carrying a layer of fat over the muscle you’re trying to tone, TightWave alone may not deliver the visible change you’re picturing.
TightWave can be paired with a fat-reduction treatment such as TightSculpting®, our Fotona laser body contouring treatment, to get both effects together: sculpted muscle underneath and a slimmer profile on top. Learn more in our guide to non-surgical body contouring.
Our team will help you figure out which combination actually matches what you’re picturing at your consultation, rather than guessing based on marketing alone.
Is TightWave Right for You?
TightWave offers a different way to build muscle tone. No surgery, no supplements, and no hour-long gym sessions. Just consistent, deep muscle engagement in the areas that are hardest to reach through exercise alone.

FAQs
Does TightWave remove fat?
No. TightWave builds and tones muscle. It doesn’t reduce fat. If fat loss is your goal, ask your provider about pairing TightWave with a fat-reduction treatment.
Is TightWave the same as EMSculpt?
Not exactly. Both use magnetic stimulation to trigger muscle contractions, but TightWave uses Fotona’s HITS technology, while EMSculpt uses a different technology called HIFEM. The underlying concept is similar; the device and delivery differ. See our full StarFormer vs. EMSculpt comparison.
What areas can TightWave treat?
TightWave can target the abdomen, glutes, hamstrings, arms, and back, sometimes multiple areas in a single session.
Will I be sore after treatment?
Some patients experience mild muscle soreness for a day or two, similar to how you’d feel after an intense workout.
How many sessions will I need?
Most patients need a series of sessions, spaced over several weeks, for optimal results. Your provider will build a specific plan based on your goals.
How much does TightWave cost?
Pricing depends on how many areas you treat and how many sessions your plan includes. Your provider will give you an exact quote at your free consultation, and you can review our payment options ahead of time.
Do I need to change clothes for treatment?
No. TightWave is performed fully clothed. Applicators are placed over your clothing, not against your skin.
